Founded by Kibar Holding in 1998, Assan Foods has initiated its activities with its modern infrastructure and high technology plant in Susurluk, an area near the Karacabey Plain where industrial tomatoes used in the production of tomato paste are heavily cultivated.
Assan Foods, which first entered the sector through tomato processing and tomato paste production, continued its production activities by commencing ketchup production in 2000 and mayonnaise and sauce production in 2002.
Assan Foods' plants in Susurluk and the Aegean Free Zone produce over 300 products, including high-quality tomato and pepper paste, ketchup, mayonnaise, and various sauces.
The factory in Susurluk has one of the highest tomato processing capacities in Turkey. The plant, which is established on an open area of 200,000 m2, consists of production, storage, management, and service buildings, along with social facilities, that make up a total area of 21,600 m2. The plant has the capacity to process 4,500 tons of fresh tomatoes and produce 2.5 million products per day. The company's industrial investments amount to more than 50 million USD, and additional investments are underway. The Ege Assan plant located in the Izmir Aegean Free Zone is established on an area of 4,500 m2 and has the capacity to package 24,000 tons of tomato paste per year.
Since it was established, Assan Foods has exported to over 70 different countries and continues to export to more than 30 countries located in 4 continents.
The company produces paste for many countries in the Caucasus, the Middle East, and Africa, and has been producing ketchup and sauces for large chain markets in Europe for several years.
Moreover, it also supplies tomato paste, pepper paste and pepper juice as raw materials to multinational companies around the world.
In Turkey, Assan Foods operates in the out-of-home consumption market with its brands Kingtom, Colorado, and Oba. While Kingtom is a leader in the out-of-home consumption market in the areas of paste, ketchup, and mayonnaise, Colorado is a leader in the area of sauces in the same market. The products under these brands are delivered to various locations across Turkey through a wide network of distributors. Assan Foods has many customers which it collaborates with and manufactures private label products for.
In the production phase, hygiene standards are among the main priorities. Since its founding, Assan Foods has been carrying out activities by integrating the requirements of quality standards with production processes and has been regularly audited by certification bodies and customers. Moreover, the company holds significant security and quality certifications, such as ISO 9001:2008, BRC, IFS, and TSE.
Assan Foods produces tomatoes, one of its raw materials, in line with smart agricultural practices and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), which the United Nations defines as "practices that aim to make the agricultural production system socially responsible, economically viable, efficient, protective of human health and sustainability, and environmentally sound to ensure animal welfare."
Under the Smart Agriculture Project, Assan Foods monitors the development of tomato seedlings and collects important data through meteorology stations and sensors placed in the fields of the Karacabey Plain. These data also offer guidance on field-soil selection and production processes for upcoming years.
