Kibar Holding, with the publication of its 12th Sustainability Report, has set its 2030 sustainability targets. Kibar Group Companies, continuing their investments in renewable energy plants, recovered 34.5% of the raw materials used and increased the waste recovery rate to 99.3%.
Having integrated its sustainability approach—positioned at the core of its growth strategy—into all its processes, Kibar Group has published its 12ᵗʰ Sustainability Report to share its economic, social, and environmental performance with the public.
Haluk Kayabaşı, the CEO of Kibar Holding, stated that they had achieved nearly all of their 2025 targets ahead of schedule as part of their sustainability strategy and have updated these targets for 2030, raising their ambition to the next level. Emphasizing that they have implemented nearly 100 new projects over the past three years to support climate change mitigation and contribute to the circular economy, Haluk Kayabaşı stated, ‘We continue our economic growth while creating value for our stakeholders through our efforts in renewable energy, circular economy, gender equality, and sustainable supply chain.’
Target to Achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2050
Continuing to invest in renewable energy for a sustainable future, the Group added a 10 MW solar power plant in Karaman, following the 48 MW Manavgat Hydroelectric Power Plant in Antalya.
Assan Alüminyum, an energy-intensive company within the Group, achieved carbon neutrality for its Scope 2 emissions from electricity consumption starting in 2021. As the first company from Türkiye to participate in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), it scored above the metal sector average in the ‘CDP Climate Change Score’ and earned a ‘B’ rating for two consecutive years.
Biodiversity Conservation Projects
The report states that the ‘Kilyos Button’ plant was successfully reproduced following the reintroduction of the endangered ‘Blue Star,’ ‘Sand Lily,’ and ‘Riva Mullein’ species, thanks to the efforts of Assan Alüminyum as part of its biodiversity conservation strategy and in collaboration with Kocaeli University.
Moving Toward the Future with Circular Economy
Kibar Group continuously reviews its manufacturing processes to ensure waste is reintegrated into production. According to the report, thanks to efforts focused on efficient resource use and environmental benefits, 34.5% of raw materials used by Kibar Group were recovered in 2024, while the waste recovery rate rose to 99.3%. The amount of recycled raw materials has increased by 26% over the past five years.
In addition, the investment in the Wastewater Recovery Plant at Asım Kibar Organized Industrial Zone has enabled the recovery of 550,000 m³ of water annually.
Projects Enhancing Environmental and Social Impact
Through the Kibar Volunteers platform, Kibar Group has been running education- and child-focused projects for over six years, reaching 9,500 children to date with the support of 650 volunteers.
Integrated Sustainability from Supply Chain to Decision-Making Processes
Through the Kibar Holding Supplier Sustainability Program (K-STAR), the first of its kind globally in terms of inclusivity, an ecosystem of over 8,000 domestic and international suppliers and customers has been transformed into sustainability business partners. Kibar Holding ensures that critical sustainability priorities are adopted by its suppliers by requiring them to sign a Framework Agreement before commencing cooperation. Within this scope, 868 environmental framework agreements were signed in 2024.
Full Commitment to Gender Equality
Recognizing the prevention of gender inequality as a key sustainability priority, Kibar Group continues to implement initiatives under the ‘WE Are Equal’ platform that promote women’s participation in the workforce and empower them. According to the report, the number of female employees at Kibar Holding increased by 91.8% in 2024 compared to the reference year, 2016. The report states that the number of female field employees increased 2.6 times, while the number of female office employees rose by 70.6%.
As a signatory of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), Kibar Holding has increased the proportion of female senior executives by 32.4% compared to the reference year 2016, thanks to its gender equality policies. In 2024, Kibar Holding became the first Turkish holding to receive the EQUAL-SALARY Certification from the Swiss-based EQUAL-SALARY Foundation, which independently assesses wage inequality within organizations.
Sustainability Information Management System
The Kibar Holding Sustainability Information Management System, designed to digitally collect, analyze, query, and report data in line with international sustainability standards, has been established to ensure accurate management and institutionalization of information. Relevant metrics have been integrated into decision-making processes.
The report emphasizes that Kibar Group will continue its efforts with the same determination, guided by the ‘Kibar Group 2030 Sustainability Strategy,’ which integrates economic, social, and environmental factors into its operations and decision-making processes.
